'Twas the night before depature...

I've packed my bags, checked 'em twice. I've unpacked and repacked. Added some clothes, and took them all back out. I think I'm ready.

Tomorrow is travel day. The plane rides to Istanbul are loonnnnggggg. I'm leaving local time at 10:15 and arriving local time at 10:15. NOTE: There's a 7 hour time difference, which cuts a little time off. NOTE ON NOTE: The second plane ride is 10 and a half hours...yuck!. Because I'm looking forward to the length of time I'll be traveling (not), I created a list of tasks to complete!

Goals to achieve while sitting around airports and chillin in a cramped seat:
1. Sleep. This may seem like an obvious choice BUT I can assure you that the lack of legspace, engulfment of strangers, along with windows to look out of (oo la la) will make this goal nearly impossible. Not to mention the fact that I will be too excited to sleep.
2. Take pictures when landing. Everyone knows that some of the COOLEST pics come from a birds-eye view.
3. Read a book. Hooray for literature!
4. Hold a conversation in Turkish. Biraz Türkçe biliyorum, ama çok değil!

At this point the only thing I can think of is the part in the movie Home Alone when the family rushes around to the airport, running around like headless chickens. Fortunately, I'm not traveling with as many people nor am I depending on one alarm.

  1. I've done the Home Alone mad dash through the airport, though under different circumstances. Mine was because my first flight was late and my connecting flight was on time and I had 10 minutes to make it across the giant airport, a trip that involved multiple escalators and lots of moving sidewalks with slow moving people. Hope your flights are smooth!

  2. HAHAHA I can only imagine what that felt like..and I hate when people don't pay attention on the moving sidewalks.

My flights were smooth just delayed.
